Future Fiction Seminar: Robot Futures: Reflections on Technocultures of Humanlike MachinesDate: 19 March 2015 Time: 1.00-2.00 pm Venue: Bowland North SR1 Professor Lucy Suchman will present her rescheduled seminar on Robot Futures: Reflections on Technocultures of Humanlike Machines CSS/CGWS/CSEC Seminar Series 2014-2015 Through this seminar series we aim to explore and engage with future narratives of different kinds: apocalyptic, utopian, this-worldly, other worldly, technophilic and techno-otherwise. We are interested in the mix of predictions, imaginaries, and speculations that fuel such fictions and the series will consider how current, and historical, future narratives offer fascinating insights into the present, and past presents.
